Illinois Cellars Norton
Well known, even in Colonial times, the Norton grape stands alone as America's premium grape for the production of dry European style wine.
To create this award-winning wine, the juice was permitted only six days on the grape skins to extract the optimum amount of color and body and avoid any bitterness or astringency. The juice was fermented at 80 degrees in stainless steel tanks to finesse the rich tannins characteristics of wine.
This Norton has a deep crimson color with a deep red hue, a great nose and good legs. This wine has hints of rosemary, blackberries, and dried cherries. It has a great mouth feel and a long lasting middle an exciting rich finish. It is a complex wine that is easy to drink and designed to go with food. It makes an ideal accompaniment for meat dishes of steaks, chops, and other robust cuisine including seasonal game.
